New features in Astra 4.8
The Astra Style Guide is the main feature of update 4.8, but there are also numerous improvements and bug fixes.
Astra Style Guide
After the update, Astra 4.8 introduces a brand new dashboard in the customizer.
Choose Astra > Adjust from the WordPress dashboard and you will see a new pencil icon at the top left of your screen.
Click on the icon and you will see the new Style Guide Dashboard.
From here you can experiment with colors, typography, buttons and icons in one place.
- Change a style to instantly see how it works with other page elements
- Change a color and see how it works with your buttons
- Change the font of a heading to see how it looks compared to the body text.
It’s an incredibly simple idea that will fundamentally change the way you design websites!
Instead of making a change and reloading a page or switching between elements to see what they look like, you can see a true representation on the same screen.
As far as we know, no other WordPress theme has this groundbreaking feature!
Using the Astra Style Guide
Select a color in the center and the global palette will appear on the left. When you make a change, it will immediately appear in the main Style Guide window.
From here you can select a style preset or customize the colors.
Whatever you change, you will see it in real time in the main window.
The same applies to typography.
In the Style Guide window, select a heading or body text to access the corresponding customization menu on the left.
Change a font and see it displayed in real time on the right.
When you make a change, you’ll see each instance of that font change dynamically, so you can instantly see what it looks like.
Just like colors, you can choose from font presets to change everything, or change each font individually.
In any case, you will immediately see the change on the right side of your screen.
Select the option to change a single font. The font family selection menu will appear as usual.
Here you can change the family, weight and size for each individual font on the page.
The Astra Style Guide also lets you preview changes to your logo, favicon, and buttons, so you can create a consistent look or brand the entire site at once.
This is a quick and effective way to design a website and easily customize, experiment with, or personalize it to match your brand.
The eagle-eyed among you may notice that not every customization is included in the Astra Style Guide.
This is intentional.
We wanted to ensure ease of use, so we only included the customizations we made most often.
All other customization options can still be found in the WordPress Customizer.
We just added features, nothing removed!
